Leucippus Democritus Copernicus

Downloadable PDF: End of Chapter One, The Copernican Revolution, by Thomas Kuhn

Because they are characters in my Novel, Socrates and the Divine Sign (aka, The Logic of Limitless), this mention of Leucippus and Democritus caught my attention.

For purposes of Limitation Philosophy this part of Kuhn’s work demonstrates the counterintuitive nature of reality. While these ancient Atomists were far from accurate about the specific details of particle reality, the cosmology such a view implied was theoretically correct. Leucippus and Democritus foresaw not only particle reality but the universe where particle reality operated. Something which I did not realize till now was depicted in my novel, without my being conscious of it. At the time of writing, I was only concerned with presenting Limitation Philosophy’s doctrine of Particle Level Emergence in literary narrative.

In this part of The Copernican Revolution Thomas Kuhn is pointing out the few alternative cosmologies to the ancient Two-Spheres System (Heavens(Celestial) and Earth(Terrestrial)) and putting them in perspective. (This perspective is included in the larger PDF, End of Chapter One).
